Overview

When Polly Glover, the Admiral's daughter, borrows her brother's friend's flat to arrange meeting prospective bridegrooms from a Marriage Bureau, she has little idea what she is letting herself in for. First of all Walter, young estate manager and probably the Admiral's choice for Polly, arrives unexpectedly, having heard from her brother of her whereabouts. Then Adam, the owner, turns up, followed shortly by the first client, an American, and later by the mother of the girl to whom Adam is supposed to be affianced. Add an effeminate servant, James, and stir vigorously into a mixture of mistaken and assumed identities and the result is a morning of chaos— but also a bridegroom for Polly.
